Oval Invincibles’ run to The Hundred final has been done with an aura of inevitability – the key reasons to their success so far

Oval Invincibles' run to The Hundred 2025 final.

With a confident six-wicket win over London Spirit on Monday, Oval Invincibles have confirmed their place in The Hundred 2025 final, capping off a campaign defined by consistency, versatility, and sheer dominance.

A glimpse at the latest victory

In front of a Bank Holiday home crowd, Oval Invincibles chased down 153 with 22 balls to spare, Nathan Sowter with figures of 2-23 restricted London Spirit in the first innings.

The second innings was powered by a man of the match Will Jacks’ 45 and Jordan Cox’s 47. It was a performance that symbolised their season: aggressive top-order hitting, controlled middle overs, and an unwavering ability to finish games clinically.

Fashion

Ahead of the local derby, the Oval Invincibles squad were seen in trendy outfits as they entered the Kia Oval – something they started last season in their final group-stage game.

Speaking about why, Jacks said: ‘We’ve done that two years in a row now, Adam Zampa brought it in last year and we thought we should continue the tradition this year.

It’s just a bit of fun, it shows where we are as a group. We are laid back, we wanna have fun with each other and at the same time focus on the cricket once we get out of that. It’s just a bit of light hearted fun.’

The Campaign that set the standard

Oval Invincibles have been the standout side in the 2025 men’s competition from start to finish. Here’s how they got there…

Consistency

  • The Invincibles suffered only two defeats all season – both narrow, and both followed by immediate bounce-back victories.
  • They’ve rotated players strategically without disrupting momentum, keeping the squad fresh while maintaining their winning core.

Remarkable batting

  • Jacks and Tawanda Muyeye have been the epicentre of their run, consistently giving them explosive starts. The pair’s strike rate this season is among the best in the tournament, setting the tone in the powerplay.
  • Cox has been having an unbelievable 2025 in general, topping The Hundred’s leading run scorer charts with 327 runs with a strike rate of 178.68.

All-round depth

Fielding excellence

Across the season, Invincibles have been sharp in the field – taking difficult catches, affecting key run-outs, and turning half-chances into game-changing moments. A remarkable catch by Jacks to dismiss Ollie Pope was also a contributing factor to him receiving the man-of-the-match award on Monday.

The road to Lord’s

Thanks to their top-table finish, the Invincibles skip Saturday’s Eliminator and go straight to the 2025 final at Lord’s on Sunday. The opponent will be decided on Saturday between Trent Rockets and Northern Superchargers.

The Invincibles are yet to beat the Northern Superchargers in this year’s campaign which could lower confidence levels if they meet in the showpiece.

Eyes on a Legacy

A win at Lord’s would give Oval Invincibles their third title in three years. Firmly cementing them as the dominant force in The Hundred’s short but evolving history. Head coach Tom Moody has praised the squad’s maturity and adaptability: ‘They don’t panic. They play fearless but smart cricket. That’s a rare combination in this format.’

Conclusion

Oval Invincibles haven’t just qualified for the final they’ve done so with an aura of inevitability.

Their campaign has blended flair and structure, power and patience.

On Sunday at Lord’s, they’ll have the chance to cap off one of the most complete seasons in Hundred history with silverware.
