Crystal Palace have signed Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen in a club-record £48million transfer on deadline day of the January window.

Palace will pay an initial £43m for the Norway international, with a further £5m in add-ons. The fee surpasses the £35m they paid to sign Brennan Johnson from Tottenham last month.

Strand Larsen, who will the No 22 shirt, has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal at Selhurst Park and bolsters their attacking options.

The FA Cup holders thought they were going to be light in this area after granting Jean-Philippe Mateta’s wish to leave the club.

However, his proposed £30m deadline-day switch to Serie A giants AC Milan fell through following medical tests – meaning Palace can call upon both he and their new signing.

Strand Larsen could make his Palace debut on Sunday in their Premier League match at bitter rivals Brighton.

The 25-year-old scored 14 goals for Wolves in the 2024-25 campaign to help steer them clear of relegation concerns and will aim to do the same at Palace, who are without a win in 12 matches in all competitions.

Palace chairman Steve Parish said: ‘We’re delighted that Jorgen has chosen to continue his impressive journey with us and look forward to seeing him in action at Selhurst Park.

‘I’m sure he will prove himself a valuable asset for years to come.’

Strand Larsen, added: ‘I’m really excited to come to Crystal Palace. It’s been something I’ve wanted to do for a long time now.

‘I’m here to bring energy and goals, and to try to do my best for the club.’

Palace also tried to further boost Oliver Glasner’s squad with the addition of Everton winger Dwight McNeil, but the deal collapsed.
