Nottingham Forest are on the search for their fourth head coach of the season after sacking Sean Dyche in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Dyche was relieved of his duties in the wake of Wednesday night’s goalless Premier League home draw with bottom side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Speculation has been mounting over his future for the last few days and his fate was sealed shortly after the full-time whistle.

He leaves Forest in 17th in the Premier League, just three points above the relegation zone with 12 matches remaining.

The 54-year-old only joined the City Ground outfit in October, following the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou.

It’s been a season of upheaval at Forest, with Nuno Espirito Santo – who is now in charge of West Hamwas sacked on September 9, before Postecoglou took over just hours later.

Nottingham Forest’s statement on Sean Dyche’s sacking

In a short statement on X, Forest thanked Dyche for his services for the club.

‘Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as head coach.

‘We would like to thank Sean and his staff for their efforts during their time at the club and we wish them the best of luck for the future. We will be making no further comment at this time.’

Sean Dyche’s Nottingham Forest admission

Dyche is the second Premier League head coach to be sacked in less than 24 hours after Thomas Frank was axed by Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday morning.

In his post-match interview after drawing with Wolves, he sounded like he knew he would likely be the next top-flight boss to leave.

‘The owner has been fair to me, without a shadow of a doubt. If anyone chooses to change in football now, that’s their decision. We’ve all seen it,’ he told BBC Sport.

‘People can demand change, and then it’s always whether they change or not.

‘If the owner wants to make a change then that’s up to him, and that’s the way football is now, that’s just the reality of it.

‘I understand the noise here has changed significantly since the last few games.’
