Is there anything better than sport around the Christmas period? There is plenty of action to watch during the festivities and TIBS News have provided the lowdown on five things you must see.
Darts
Merry Dartmas! Ally Pally hosts this year’s World Darts Championship with all the action on Sky Sports.
The second round kicked off on Saturday and on Sunday, tournament favourite – and defending champion – Luke Littler continues his defence against David Davies.
On Monday, Luke Humphries then takes on fan favourite Paul Lim.
With the World Championship ending on January 3, there is a lot of action to be watched between now and then.
Horse Racing
Kempton is the place for punters to be on Boxing Day, with triple Grade One action, but which horse will claim the King George VI chase?
Nicky Henderson’s Sir Gino has been hinted at running in the Christmas Hurdle after three-time champion Constitution Hill disappointed earlier this year.
The three Grade One races coming from Kempton are the Kauto Star Novices Steeple Chase, the Christmas Hurdle and the King George VI Chase.
There are also three more races at Kempton, as well as other meetings going on around the UK.
In total there are eight meetings and over 50 races on Boxing Day and you can catch all the horse racing action on ITV or RacingTV.
Football
Arsenal kick-off the festive football on Tuesday with a home quarter-final against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup.
Then it’s the traditional run of Boxing Day fixtures with all 72 teams in the Football League in action. However, there is only one Premier League match, sparking a lot of criticism online.
That fixture in question is Manchester United versus Newcastle United on Sky Sports.
The majority of Premier League games take place on Saturday, December 27 with two more on Sunday, December 28. Some of those are available on Sky Sports or TNT Sports.
Cricket
The Ashes continues Down Under with the fourth Test starting on Boxing Day. This will be held at the iconic MCG in Melbourne before Sydney is the scene for the fifth and final Test of this series.
England will be hoping for a better performance after disappointing in the first three Tests to already have lost the best-of-five series.
All the upcoming Ashes matches can be watched live on TNT Sports.
NFL
America has all the action on Christmas Day, with two NFL games taking place. The Washington Commanders play against the Dallas Cowboys, and the Minnesota Vikings face the Detroit Lions – both on Netflix. Amazon Prime is also showing Denver Broncos versus the Kansas City Chiefs.
There are lots of other games taking place around the Christmas holidays with Sky Sports also broadcasting those ones.
