Dujon Sterling has been arrested and charged for a horror car crash in Glasgow, which took place hours after he helped Ranger record a memorable 3-1 win at bitter rivals Celtic.

The incident took in West Graham Street, Cowcaddens, at around 1.25am on Sunday.

It was a one-vehicle collision and Sterling, 26, has been arrested and charged by police for road traffic offences.

In the photograph circulating online, the dark hatchback can be seen written off – with its bonnet up and doors open – and turned 90 degrees left of the road.

Furthermore the vehicle came to a rest on a bridge over the M8 motorway, narrowly avoiding crashing onto the embankment below.

There is also severe damage to railings where the vehicle has careered into it before stopping with debris strewn across the road.

Police Scotland have confirmed no one was injured and Sterling will appear in court at a later date.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: ‘Around 1.25am on Sunday police received a report of a one-vehicle crash on West Graham Street, Glasgow.

‘There were no injuries reported.

‘The driver, a 26-year-old man, was arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences.

‘He’s expected to appear at court at a later date.’

Contrasting few hours for Rangers star Dujon Sterling

Just 11 hours before the crash, Sterling had starred at right back as Rangers won at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership.

After trailing 1-0 at half-time to a Yang Hyun-Jun goal, the visitors responded with a brace from Youssef Chermiti before Mikey Moore completed the scoreline.

Sterling took to social media after the win, which saw Rangers drawing level on points with their city rivals, declaring it was ‘job done’ and wishing fans a happy new year.

The former England Under-20 international has been at Rangers since May 2023, signing a four-year deal with the club.

The ex-Chelsea academy player has featured just five times for the Scottish giants so far this season after suffering an achilles injury towards the end of last season.

However, now fit he will be looking to help his club close down league leaders Hearts and win the Scottish Premiership title. Rangers currently sit third in the table on 38 points after 20 games, six behind Hearts and level with Celtic – trailing only by goal difference.
