The New York Knicks have won their first NBA title since 1973 after completing a 4-1 series win over the San Antonio Spurs.

Leading 3-1, the Knicks went into Game 5 in San Antonio knowing they were on the brink of history. And like how the series has panned out, they did it by coming from behind to win.

In Game 4, New York trailed by 29 points to win, the largest comeback victory in Finals history, and here at the Frost Bank Center they were losing by 16 points in the second quarter and by 10 in the fourth before prevailing 94-90.

Jalen Brunson, who was unanimously named Most Valuable Player in the Finals, led their fightback with 15 points in the fourth quarter for his overall total of 45 points for the night.

‘I have no words. It’s everything I dreamed of,’ he told ESPN.

‘I’m in awe. It’s why I came to New York.

‘Whenever someone counted us out, we found a way to come back and do something about it.

‘Whatever you put in front of us, we’re going to find a way… every time we step on this court. Every time.’
