Euro 2020 betting: France go into the competition as favourites while England are looking to win their first ever European Championships

Since the start of the competition Germany/West Germany and Spain hold the record for lifting the trophy three times each.

The Germans have reached the final six times and the semi-finals nine times.

Between 1960 and 1972 the former Soviet Union reached four consecutive semi-finals.

Spain, Italy and France all won the European Championships while being hosts the Soviet Union (1960), Spain (1964), Italy (1968) and West Germany (1972) were all champions in the debutant tournaments. 

England hold the unwanted record of reaching the finals nine times without ever winning the trophy.

Winners

World Cup holders France go into Euro 2020 as favourites at the bookies at 6s while England are 13/2 while Belgium are 15/2.

Germany, who last won the European Championships in 1996 at Wembley, are 9s with holders Portugal 10s to retain the trophy. 

Since the start of the competition in 1960 in France when the Soviet Union beat Yugoslavia 2-1 after extra-time Spain are the only nation to have retained the trophy having won it in 2008 and 2012.

The three most likely finalists with the bookies are England vs Belgium at 16s, France vs Belgium 18s and England vs France at 19s.

Spurs’ Harry Kane is favourite to win the Golden Boot at 13/2 with Inter’s Romelu Lukaku is 36/5 and Kylian Mbappe is 10s.

Cristiano Ronaldo is 14s, with Karim Benzema at 16s, Memphis Depay at 19s alternatively Antoine Griezmann and Ciro Immobile are 24s.

Player of the Tournament 

It is no surprise that Kylian Mbappe is the favourite to be named as the player of the tournament at 8s, while Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne is 11s and England captain Harry Kane is 15s.

Cristiano Ronaldo is 20s, Romelu Lukaku is 22s and Antoine Griezmann is 24s.
