Max Verstappen has won back-to-back F1 races after a dominant victory at the Singapore Grand Prix.

The Red Bull racer held off an early challenge from Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc at the start to cruise to the chequered flag at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

His triumph follows winning the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia and Saturday’s sprint race in Singapore – ending a 10-month drought.

Leclerc finished second while Kimi Antonelli came third – meaning the Mercedes driver can win his first world title at the next race, the United States Grand Prix on October 25. If he did that he would become the youngest F1 world champion in history.

The 20-year-old can do that because his team-mate George Russell finished ninth after starting 19th, meaning he trails the Italian by 102 points in the championship race. In order to do that he will need to win in Austin with Russell finishing ninth or lower and Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton fifth or lower.

McLaren duo Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri finished fourth and fifth. Antonelli and the aforementioned duo capitalised on Lewis Hamilton’s error. The Ferrari man finished sixth after trying to survive on a set of soft tyres for a staggering 44 laps.

Racing Bulls’ Liam Lawson (seventh), Audi’s Nico Hulkenberg (eighth), Russell (ninth) and Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar (10th) rounded out the top 10.

Max Verstappen wins Singapore Grand Prix sprint race

It was a great weekend for Verstappen who won a chaotic sprint race after Russell crashed out while leading in tricky conditions.

Russell was in first place when he lost control of his car on the last corner of the first lap of a half dry and wet track.

Hamilton finished second while Leclerc came third.

Antonelli finished fourth after a final-lap collision between Norris and Piastri allowed him to capitalise. Norris would end up finishing eighth in the final points position, while Piastri crashed out as a result of the incident with his team-mate.

Lawson (fifth), Haas’ Oliver Bearman (sixth) and Hulkenberg (seventh) rounded out the top eight and the final points.
