Ange Postecoglou has been appointed as Nottingham Forest’s new manager in a whirlwind few hours for the Premier League club.

In early hours of Tuesday morning, 12.15am to be precise, Forest announced that they had sacked Nuno Espirito Santo to end his 20-month stint at the City Ground.

And 13 hours later on Tuesday afternoon, at 1.15pm, they announced that Postecoglou had replaced the Portuguese signing a deal until the end of next season.

Postecoglou had been without a job since the summer when he was axed as Tottenham manager – with the club having finished 17th in the Premier League last season, but winning the Europa League.

His first game in charge will see him face old adversary Arsenal in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon (12.30pm kick-off).

Ange Postecoglou has a ‘consistent record of winning trophies’

Speaking about the appointment of Postecoglou, owner Evangelos Marinakis pointed to the 60-year-olds track record of silverware as a key factor in his selection.

‘We are bringing a coach to the Club who has a proven and consistent record of winning trophies,’ he said.

‘His experience of coaching teams at the highest level, along with his desire to build something special with us at Forest, makes him a fantastic person to help us on our journey and achieve consistently all our ambitions.

‘After gaining promotion to the Premier League, then building consistently season after season to secure European football, we now must take the right step to compete with the very best and challenge for trophies.

‘Ange has the credentials and the track-record to do this, and we are excited he is joining us on our ambitious journey.’
