The first set of Champions League round of 16 games are now over! Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi crashing out of the competition.

Juventus were eliminated on away goals by Porto despite winning 3-2 on the night.

They have now dropped out of Europe at the hands of a lower profile side for the third year running.

The Portuguese club join Lyon and Ajax as teams that have beaten Ronaldo and co in the last three seasons.

First leg hero Federico Chiesa netted twice for Juventus. That cancelled out Sergio Oliveira’s opener before going to extra time.

Porto were down to ten men after Mehdi Taremi was dismissed in the second half.

Oliveira’s second in the 115th minute all but secured their place in the quarter finals. This was despite a late scare following Adrien Rabiot’s strike.

Messi’s Barca are out!

Messi was also eliminated from the competition, as Barcelona only managed to draw 1-1 on the night against PSG.

The Argentine scored a fantastic equaliser after Kylian Mbappe put the Parisians ahead. But, it wasn’t enough as the tie ended 5-2 on aggregate.

Liverpool became the first English side to make the quarter finals this season, mirroring their first leg by again beating RB Leipzig 2-0.

Like they did three weeks ago, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane netted for the Reds as they comfortably overcame the German club.

Erling Haaland does it again

Finally, Erling Haaland made history against Sevilla, becoming the fastest player ever to score 20 Champions League goals as Borussia Dortmund won 5-4 on aggregate.

A brace for Haaland in his 14th European game helped him to the record, while also helping his side into the quarter finals.

The match ended 2-2 on the night, after Youssef En-Nesyri also bagged two goals, but all eyes were on the record breaking Norwegian striker.
