Graham Potter is back in management after being announced as the new head coach of Sweden.

Potter has joined Sweden on an initial short-term basis as they look to revive their stuttering World Cup qualification campaign.

The 50-year-old has been without a job since being sacked by West Ham United last month after a disappointing start to the season.

Sweden have been search for a new head coach after sacking Jon Dahl Tomasson after a 1-0 loss to Kosovo on October 13 made automatic qualification from their group impossible.

However, they still have another route to next year’s finals through the play-offs courtesy of winning their Nations League group.

Graham Potter ‘humbled’ to take the Sweden job

Potter’s image in Sweden is strong after delivering three promotions in four seasons at Ostersund, taking them from the fourth division to the top flight, while also winning a domestic cup in 2017.

And speaking about taking over the national team, he is relishing the opportunity to try and take them to the World Cup.

‘I am very humbled by the assignment, but also incredibly inspired. Sweden has fantastic players who deliver in the world’s best leagues during the weeks.

‘My job will be to create the conditions so that we as a team deliver at the highest level to take Sweden to the World Cup next summer.’
