Leicester City won their first ever FA Cup this weekend with a 1-0 victory over Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea.
The Foxes went ahead after a dull first half, with Youri Tielemans scoring a rocket midway through the second period.

The Belgian drove into the final third before firing a screamer straight into the top corner.

A superb performance from Kasper Schmeichel allowed Leicester to maintain their lead, with the Dane making two incredible saves late in the game.

Chelsea thought they had equalised just a few minutes from time, but Ben Chilwell’s late leveller was rules out for a marginal offside against the Blues defender.

The win means Brendan Rodgers’ side have won their first piece of silverware since the 2016 Premier League triumph.

It also means Chelsea have now lost in the final two years in a row, failing to avenge their defeat to Arsenal last season.

To make the occasion even more special, 21,000 fans were allowed to attend the match and see Leicester make history.

The likes of Schmeichel, Tielemans and Jamie Vardy were amongst the huge celebrations at full time right in front of the supporters, which will continue long into the evening.

There won’t be much rest for either team though, with the two coming face to face again in just three days’ time in a crucial fixture in the battle for a top four spot.

The Foxes’ win rounds off another FA Cup tournament, with their own Kelechi Iheanacho finishing as the competition’s joint top scorer on four goals along with Blues’ Tommy Abrahams, Tom Nichols, Gary Madine and Alfie May.

During the competition Tielemans had three decisive moments including his winning goal on Saturday.

Morecambe and Lincoln City had the worst discipline record with eight yellow cards while Barnsley, Shrewsbury and Barnet were the only teams to have a player sent off.

The most exciting game in the competition came in the first round proper when Crawley Town overcame Torquay United 6-5 while Bradford City beat Tonbridge Angels 7-0 for the cup’s biggest win this season.

Crawley also enjoyed the biggest cup upset of the season when they beat Premier League Leeds United 3-0 at the People’s Pension Stadium. Surprisingly despite the scoreline the Giant Killers only had 29% possession.

Even though fans did not get to attend the majority of the season it has been another entertaining campaign.
