Liverpool are back on their perch after being crowned as Premier League champions following their a thumping 5-1 win over Tottenham at Anfield.

Going into Sunday’s encounter, the Reds only needed a point to win their 20th top-flight title – a record they share with bitter rivals Manchester United – and they duly achieved that in some style on Merseyside.

However, there was an early scare when Spurs took the lead through a Dominic Solanke goal on 12 minutes.

Like the newly-crowned champions they are though, Arne Slot’s side responded in stunning fashion with Luis Diaz equalising on 16 minutes before Alexis Mac Allister turned the scoreline in their just eight minutes later. Cody Gakpo made it 3-1 on 34 minutes to give the Reds a two-goal cushion at half-time.

The second half saw Liverpool continue to dominate and Mohamed Salah got his customary goal just after the hour mark. Minutes later Destiny Udogie scored an own goal to complete Spurs’ misery and the scoreline.

As soon as the full-time whistle went, did the party on Merseyside commence.
