Liverpool sign Hugo Ekitike in £79m transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt

Liverpool have signed Hugo Ekitike in a deal worth up to £79million as the Premier League champions continue to bolster their squad for the upcoming season.

Ekitike, 23, has signed a six-year contract with Liverpool after joining from Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Reds have been keen to strengthen their attacking options this summer with Newcastle striker Alexander Isak among their targets before landing Ekitike.

The deal for Ekitike is worth an initial £69m with £10m in add-ons which are based on team and player perfomance.

Ekitike is the Reds’ fifth summer signing following the arrivals of Giorgi Mamardashvili, Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez.

Last season Ekitike scored 22 goals in 48 games for Frankfurt in all competitions – with 15 of those in the Bundesliga.
