Manchester United are reportedly set for a fresh takeover bid, according to Turki Alalshikh – with the deal ‘in an advanced stage’.

The Red Devils changed their ownership model just under two years ago when Sir Jim Ratcliffe bought an initial 25 per cent stake in the club for £1.3billion, which is now at 27.7 per cent, from the Glazer family in December 2023.

However, according to Alalshikh things could be changing again very soon. Taking to X late on Wednesday night, the Saudi boxing supremo wrote: ‘The best news I heard today is that Manchester United is now in an advanced stage of completing a deal to sell to a new investor.’

He followed that sentence with an apparent dig at either the Glazer family or Ratcliffe, with it currently unclear, by stating: ‘I hope he’s better than the previous owners,’ accompanied by two emojis – one being praying hands.

It is currently unclear if there is any validation to Alalshikh’s, but his post would attract hope among many United supporters who want the Glazer family to sell the entirety of their stake in the club, while Ratcliffe has irked supporters too since his arrival.

At the time of writing, Alalshikh’s post has already amassed over one million views on X.
