Marcus Rashford completes Barcelona season-long loan move from Manchester United

Marcus Rashford’s Manchester United exile is over after securing a season-long loan move to Barcelona.

Barcelona has long been Rashford’s preferred destination since publicly declaring last December that he was seeking pastures new after being dropped by United head coach Ruben Amorim.

And he has now got his wish by joining the LaLiga champions until the next of the forthcoming campaign.

The deal itself itself includes an option to buy for the Spanish giants.

Barcelona will pay Rashford’s wages but the forward has agreed to take a 15 per cent cut on his £315,000-a-week pay packet to facilitate the deal – either way helping United shed their wage bill, with only Casemiro (£325,000-per-week) earning more.

Rashford has been in Catalonia since Sunday after getting permission from his boyhood club to fly to Barcelona.

He is set to be part of their pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea as he gets to learn the ways of manager Hansi Flick’s system.

Rashford’s loan is the second he has had this year after spending the second half of last term at Aston Villa – scoring four goals and providing six assists in 17 appearances for the Midlands club.

Rashford had lost his No 10 jersey at Manchester United following the arrival of summer signing Matheus Cunha last month from Wolves in a £62.5million transfer.
