Premier League preview: Tottenham host bitter rivals Chelsea, while Sheffield United face West Brom in a relegation battle

Following the majority of the top six sides dropping points on the weekend, the Premier League table is wide open again as the next set of midweek fixtures roll around.

The biggest match sees new Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel take charge of his first London derby, as the Blues travel to bitter rivals Tottenham.

It also means Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho will come up against his former side, with both clubs looking to break into the top four.

Manchester United have the opportunity to put their title challenge back on track when they welcome an out of from Southampton side.

United have picked up just one point from their last two games, including a disappointing loss to bottom side Sheffield United.

Their rivals, Manchester City, beat the Blades last weekend to go top of the league and have the chance to extend their lead when they face Burnley.

Liverpool comfortably defeated West Ham to put themselves back into the title race and can continue their upturn in form when they face Brighton on Wednesday.

The Seagulls just recorded a promising win against Spurs, though, and will provide the champions with a big challenge this week.

Despite their loss to Leeds, Leicester City remain in the top four and could move into third with a win over struggling Fulham.

West Ham could also break back into the Champions League spots but face a tough Aston Villa team who themselves could overtake the Hammers with a victory.

Another club competing for the European places is Everton, who visit Leeds on Wednesday in what is set to be a very entertaining match.

Victory for the Toffees would see them move as high as fifth, while three points for Marcelo Bielsa and Co could put them into the top half of the table.

Arsenal also have the opportunity to close the gap between themselves and the top six when they visit Wolves.

The Gunners sit just two points away from rivals Tottenham in sixth following their change in form since the start of the year and could overtake them on Tuesday night.

Elsewhere, Sheffield United and West Brom go head-to-head in the latest relegation ‘six-pointer’ in a match that could majorly change the battle for survival.

A win for the Blades would put them in touching distance of their opponents, whilst victory for Sam Allardyce’s side would push them above fellow strugglers Fulham.

Finally, Newcastle and Crystal Palace face off in a midtable clash, with both sides off the back of impressive wins at the weekend against Everton and Wolves, respectively.
