Thomas Tuchel has signed a contract extension as England head coach until 2028, ending speculation about his future beyond the upcoming World Cup.
In October 2024, Tuchel was announced as Three Lions boss on an 18-month deal that would begin in January 2025.
The German has been linked with the Manchester United job in the summer, following Ruben Amorim’s sacking in January and with Michael Carrick currently at the helm until the end of this season.
However, Tuchel has committed his future to England by signing a new contract on Thursday morning.

Thomas Tuchel gives England the ‘best chance for success’
CEO Mark Bullingham said there is ‘no better candidate available in world football’ than Tuchel for England.
‘I am delighted Thomas has committed to stay with us through to the EUROs in 2028. He was the right person for the job when he joined us for the World Cup campaign, and has only strengthened his reputation across the qualifiers. We know the players are right behind him, and the togetherness within the group is there for all to see.
‘There is simply no better candidate available in world football. With his big-game experience, knowledge and passion, he gives the squad the very best chance for success – this summer and with the once-in-a generation Euros being hosted on these shores in two years’ time.’
Tuchel guided England to eight wins from eight matches in World Cup qualifying and they will play Croatia, Ghana and Panama in their group at the finals.
