Tottenham Hotspur have bolstered their midfield by signing Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid in a £35million transfer.

The 25-year-old has signed a five-and-a-half year deal with the club until June 2031.

Spurs have beaten Aston Villa to signing Gallagher – who joined Atletico in August 2024 for £33m from Chelsea.

The midfielder will be hoping his return to the Premier League can force his way into Thomas Tuchel’s England plans ahead of the World Cup this summer.

Upon signing for the north London outfit, Gallagher expressed his happiness at doing so.

‘I’m so happy and excited to be here, taking the next step in my career at an amazing club,’ he said.

‘I know how great the fans are, I’m really happy to be a part of it here and want to create special moments and memories together.’

Tottenham have used their money from selling Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace earlier this month for £35m.

Spurs boss Thomas Frank is relishing the opportunity of working with his newest signing Gallagher.

‘Conor is a top midfielder, who we have worked tirelessly to add to our squad,’ he said.

‘Conor has captained teams so will bring leadership, maturity, character and personality to our dressing room, while his running power, pressing ability and eye for goal will strengthen us in a key area of the pitch.’

Gallagher will be looking to make his debut in Saturday’s London derby against bitter rivals West Ham.

Spurs sit 14th in the table on 27 points after 21 games and have had a run of poor form in which they have won just one of their last six Premier League matches.
