Chelsea ‘target Kai Havertz will cost more than £90m from Bayer Leverkusen if they wish to sign him this summer’

Chelsea will have to spend a club-record fee if they wish to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz this summer.

Havertz has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge as Frank Lampard continues to overhaul his squad ahead of next season.

And according to the Sun, the Blues will have to stump up more than £90million to land the 21-year-old.

They add that Bayer want £63m up front with the rest coming in the shape of add-ons.

The acquisition of the Germany international would see Chelsea’s total outlay exceeding £170m this summer already.

Hakim Ziyech was signed from Ajax in a £37m deal, while Timo Werner cost £53m from RB Leipzig.

Havertz enjoyed a brilliant season with Bayer – scoring 17 goals in 43 games across all competitions.

His performances propelled the club to a fifth-place finish in the Bundesliga, while they also finished as runners up in the German Cup.
