Kimi Antonelli wins Monaco Grand Prix ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Isack Hadjar

Kimi Antonelli’s dominance in the F1 2026 season continued after he emerged victorious at a chaotic Monaco Grand Prix.

The win was his fifth-straight this campaign in a race that saw two safety cars and a red flag.

The 19-year-old Mercedes driver finished ahead of Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton, while Pierre Gasly finished third for Alpine. However, Gasly was soon demoted to seventh after being penalised for speeding in the pit lane, meaning Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar took the final podium position.

Antonelli’s fortunes contrasted greatly with his team-mate George Russell who finished 12th and out of the points.

As a result Antonelli leads Hamilton in the championship race by 66 points, with Russell now down to third and two points further adrift.

The first safety car was caused when Lance Stroll crashed his Aston Martin at the final corner.

Then as the cars prepared to get going again, Hamilton’s team-mate Charles Leclerc crashed in the exact same spot.

Leclerc incident led to a red flag as officials took a look at the track surface at the crumbling final corner, known as Antony Noghes.

When the race did restart, Antonelli pulled clear of Hamilton to underline his dominance once more.
