Serie A – Week 1

With the start of the season less than an hour away it is time for a quick preview.

Saturday

Champions Napoli head to Serie A newbies Frosinone with last season’s top scorer Osimhen leading the line.

While the home side’s support are expected to be very vocal they are expected to struggle tonight.

The other early kick-off see Hellas Verona travel to Empoli – with the bookies predicting a hard season for both clubs it is important to get off to a winning start.

Tonight’s other two games sees Fiorentina travel to Genoa and league favourites Inter host Monza.

Sunday

Tomorrow Roma host Salernitana but both Paulo Dybala and Jose Mourinho are suspended.

Atalanta face a tricky game at Sassuolo while Lazio head to Puglia to play Lecce. Last season the league’s runner-ups we shocked then lost 2-1 back in January.

Udinese host Juventus – they last met on the last game of last season where Federico Chiesa’s goal was the difference.

Monday

On Monday night Torino host Cagliari before Milan travel to Bologna.

Last season Torino had a good season finishing tenth and only just missing out on Europe – this was particularly good considering they lost their captain Andrea Belotti on free transfer to Roma.

Despite getting to the Champions League semi-final it was a disappointing season for Milan last season where they not only failed to retain the Scudetto but they only finished in the top four as Juventus received a points reduction.

My predictions

Frosinone 0-3 Napoli
Empoli 2-1 Verona
Genoa 2-0 Fiorentina
Inter 2-0 Monza
Sassuolo 0-2 Atalanta
Roma 1-0 Salernitana
Lecce 1-1 Lazio
Udinese 0-2 Juventus
Torino 2-0 Cagliari
Bologna 0-2 Milan
