Manchester City WIN the FA Cup after 1-0 victory over Chelsea thanks to Antoine Semenyo’s brilliance

Manchester City have won the FA Cup once more after edging out Chelsea 1-0 in a rather dull showpiece at Wembley.

Antoine Semenyo’s moment of magic was the only real highlight on 72 minutes as backheel flick beat Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

The triumph means City have added the FA Cup to the Carabao Cup they won two months ago. It also ends a run of successive final defeats in this competition after losing to Manchester United (2023-24) and Crystal Palace (2024-25).

For Chelsea it means they have now lost a fourth FA Cup final in a row as their chances of winning silverware now come to an end this season.

Speaking after his matchwinning moment post-match, Semenyo – who joined from Bournemouth in a ÂŁ65million deal in January – told BBC Sport: ‘It has happened a couple of times in training – it happened perfectly today,’ Semenyo told BBC Sport. ‘Everything happened so fast to be honest. It came straight to me and I had to improvise myself as quickly as I could.

‘I have never competed for trophies like this before, so everything is new to me. Hopefully, we can finish the job off. It is a good finish, I can’t lie.

‘As a kid I have always wanted to be playing for the top teams – it took a long time to get there, but I am grateful.’
