Wolves search for a new manager is over after appointing Rob Edwards on a three-and-a-half year contract on Wednesday afternoon.
The Molineux outfit have been without a manager since November 2 when they sacked Vitor Pereira after a disastrous start to the season.
Edwards has it all to do at Wolves with the club bottom of the Premier League and winless – losing nine and drawing two of their 11 top-flight matches so far.
It’s a full circle moment for Edwards who played 111 times across four seasons at the the club between 2004-2008. After ending his playing career elsewhere he made his first steps into coaching with Wolves’ under-18s in 2014, before becoming first-team coach under Kenny Jackett a year later. Then in October 2016 he was interim manager for two games.

Upon the announcement of Edwards’ appointment, Wolves executive chairman Jeff Shi is optimistic for their future under the 42-year-old
‘I know Rob very well and I have seen his growth in different jobs. He’s a very good person, he knows the club very well, he knows the city, the fans and he is very talented. When he was a youth coach here, he showed his tactical awareness, but after he took first-team jobs he started to grow his own identity, character and leadership.
‘We need to refresh the whole club with a new coach’s philosophy, bringing his own identity and ideas, and we can build on that. We are at a new chapter for the club and Rob will be a key piece of that.’
Middlesbrough condemn Edwards’ conduct
However, while Wolves are happy that can not be said for Middlesbrough.
The former Luton Town manager only joined the club in June but lasted just 15 games as he chose to leave the Championship outfit to step up a division.
And in wake of that news, Boro released a statement about his departure.
‘Middlesbrough FC can confirm that Rob Edwards has now officially resigned his post as head coach after agreeing a contract with Wolves,’ it reads.
‘Rob had signed a three-year contract with ourselves during the summer, but after he made it clear he was keen to join Wolves, we reluctantly agreed a figure of compensation for both himself and one of his first team coaches, Harry Watling.
‘On Saturday the Riverside came together as one, players, staff, and supporters, and you could feel the sense of unity which is at the core of our club. To everyone involved, we would like to say thank you.
‘Adi Viveash took charge of team affairs last Saturday and will continue to do so during the interim period.
‘Let’s stay together. UTB.’
