Enzo Maresca is appointed Manchester City’s new head coach on a three-year deal as he replaces Pep Guardiola

Enzo Maresca is back in management after being appointed as Manchester City’s head coach.

In a protracted move since he acrimoniously left Chelsea on New Year’s Day, Maresca has signed a three-year contract at the Etihad Stadium.

The Italian replaces Pep Guardiola at the helm, after the Spaniard decided to step down at the end of the domestic season.

Maresca knows his new surroundings well, having previously been Guardiola’s assistant at City – including their Treble-winning 2022-23 campaign.

The 46-year-old acknowledges he has huge shoes to fill with Guardiola having won 20 trophies in his 10 years at City.

‘Probably the reason why I am here is also because the idea from the club is to maintain the same style of football, the same idea,’ he said.

‘And we are going to try to do the most important thing in football which is try to win, to achieve important things. Then the day-by-day is also going to dictate the way I will work.’
