Oliver Glasner named as Nottingham Forest’s new head coach – as he becomes their fifth different boss in a year

Oliver Glasner has been appointed as Nottingham Forest’s new head coach as they embark on their staggering fifth different figurehead in this role in the past year.

The Austrian replaces the sacked Vitor Pereira, who was relieved of his duties last week.

Glasner’s arrival to the City Ground is a bit of a surprise, considering he was linked with a number of top jobs upon leaving Crystal Palace at the end of the season.

At the start of the 2025-26 campaign, Nuno Espirito Santo began in charge, before Ange Postecoglou, Sean Dyche and Pereira all succeeded him.

On joining Forest, Glasner said: ‘From my very first conversations with the owner and the leadership team, it was evident to me that they have a clear vision for this football club and complete trust and belief in me and my staff to build a strong future together over the long term.

‘That trust and shared commitment, together with the potential that I see within the squad, were key factors for me and I am excited about what we can achieve together.’

The 51-year-old’s optimism is matched by Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis who said: ‘Oliver is a winner. It was clear that we share the same vision, the same ambition and the same relentless desire to succeed.

‘He has consistently demonstrated throughout his career that he can build outstanding teams and deliver success against the strongest competition.

‘He has earned success through his leadership, his personality and the style of football his teams play.
