Bayern Munich have completed the signing of Sadio Mane from Liverpool for a fee of £35million.

The deal is worth an initial £27.4m, and the Reds will be due a further £5.1m based on appearances and £2.5m dependent on individual and team achievements during Mane’s spell in Germany.

The 30-year-old has signed a three-year deal at the Allianz Arena after a trophy-laden six years at Anfield.

Mane arrived at Liverpool for £34m from Southampton in 2016 and went on to score an impressive 120 goals in 269 appearances for the club.

He won the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup all in 2019, before helping Liverpool to end their 30-year wait for a league title in 2020.

Last season Mane scored 23 goals in all competitions for the Merseyside club, as Liverpool won both the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup.

Sadio Mane: It’s the right time for this challenge

The Senegalese international was thrilled to join the Bundesliga champions and admitted he has admired Bayern for a long time.

He said: “I’m really happy to finally be at FC Bayern Munich.

‘We spoke a lot and I felt big interest from this great club right from the beginning, so for me there were no doubts. It’s the right time for this challenge.

‘I want to achieve a lot with this club, in Europe too. During my time in Salzburg I watched a lot of Bayern games – I really like this club!’

Bayern’s president Herbert Hainer added: ‘Sadio Mane is a global star, who underlines the appeal of FC Bayern and will increase the attractiveness of the Bundesliga as a whole.’
