Tiger Woods given five-year driving BAN and a fine as he pleads ‘no contest’ after DUI charge following car crash in Florida

Tiger Woods has been given a five-year driving ban as part of a deal with prosecutors after crashing his car in Florida in March.

The iconic golfer accepted the suspension and a $1,000 (£742) fine, as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors in Martin County, Florida.

Judge Darren Steele accepted the plea agreement, which amended the original DUI charge and also resolved the refusal to submit a test charge with a no contest plea. Woods also entered the same plea to a careless driving citation.

Just over five months ago, Woods was arrested and charged for driving under the influence.

The 50-year-old rolled his Land Rover after clipping a truck in Jupiter Island, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s office.

As well as his DUI charge, Woods was also charged with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.

Thankfully no one was hurt. Woods passed a breathalyser test but refused to take a urine test.

The 15-time major champion was kept in jail for eight hours – the minimum allowed under state law – before being released on bail.
