Raheem Sterling is charged with dangerous driving and possession of nitrous oxide

Raheem Sterling has been charged with dangerous driving and possession of laughing gas after he crashed his £270,000 Lamborghini in May.

If convicted, the 31-year-old could face two years in prison.

The forward was arrested at the scene of the collision on the M3 in Hampshire in the morning of May 28.

He would also not give a sample after his arrest – leading to a third charge of failing to supply a specimen.

Sterling, who is currently without a club after a short spell at Dutch side Feyenoord, will appear before magistates in Basingstoke on September 15.

A Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesman told The Sun: ‘A driver will appear in court next month to face charges following a collision on the M3.

‘Raheem Sterling, 31, from Berkshire, has been charged for the following offences: dangerous driving, possession of nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation, failing to provide a specimen.

‘The charges come following a single vehicle collision, involving a Lamborghini, on the M3 southbound, close to the Minley Interchange, on 28 May, 2026.

‘No other vehicles were involved and no injuries were reported.

‘Mr Sterling is due to appear at Basingstoke magistrates court on 15 September.’
