Tyson Fury stops Mariusz Wach in heavyweight fight as bout with British rivals Anthony Joshua looms

Boxing Gloves

Tyson Fury stopped Mariusz Wach in a low-key affair to move a step closer to fighting Anthony Joshua later this year.

Fury, 37, dominated his opponents for seven rounds at the Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya, Thailand before his opponent, 46, retired on his stool at the start of the eighth.

It is the 36th win of Fury’s career who will now await to see if long-term British rival Joshua beats Albanian Kristian Prenga on Saturday to set up their long-awaited showdown.

‘I went through my test tonight. Let’s see if he can get through his,’ Fury said of that prospect.

It is unclear where that potential bout will be held, but Fury isn’t fussed after fighting in front of no more than 1,500 people on Friday.

‘We’ll head wherever we’re going to head,’ Fury said.

‘Who knows? It could be in Vegas, New York, Ireland, London. Who knows where the fight’s going to be?’
